This assemblage is called 'Memorial to an unknown artist'. My art has been inspired and informed by other artists. This palette once belonged to an unknown artist and the work acknowledges a debt. Picasso is quoted as saying 'Bad artists borrow, great artists steal.' TS Eliot said of poetry: 'Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better...' For me the process of transforming into something better is what art and life should be about.
