This ceramic sculpture, 'Totem 1', is the first of a series inspired by photos of magnified plant forms by Karl Blossfeldt (1928), in this case the shoots of horse chesnut trees. The Blossfeldt photos reveal structures invisible to the naked eye, revealing sculptural forms.
