This ceramic sculpture is called 'Egyptain figure'. It was fired in living flame, hence its burnt appearance. The figure has held a variety of objects, including a mirror and a candle and has had a variety of adornments on its head. Here it holds a brass dish with glass globe. When it was made I was writing a novel set in ancient Egypt at the time, but since abandoned.
Egyptian figure: height 26cm
